Chinese firm first lists on Alternext, Paris

Cambridge law firm Taylor Wessing has seen its French team spearhead an historic launch by a Chinese company on the Alternext Market of NYSE Euronext Paris.

China Corn Oil, the first Chinese company to be admitted to the list, was valued at €85 million. The listing was of prime importance for the Parisian Market since it demonstrated the attractiveness of the French market for Chinese companies.

China Corn Oil supplies more than 35 per cent of the corn oil on sale in China's domestic market.
Alain de Foucaud, partner responsible for Taylor Wessing's stock exchange regulatory department in France, headed the Paris-based team advising on the transaction, which comprised Jian Xu Huang, Jérôme Lemercier and Frédéric Levy.

He said: "This entry into Alternext constitutes a major event - not just for China Corn Oil, but also for the Parisian market place, demonstrating the interest and appeal it holds for Chinese companies."
