The Free Trade Alliance is forging new trade ties between San Antonio and China with the opening of a new representative office in Beijing.
The Free Trade Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting, developing and facilitating international business and trade.
“San Antonio has been increasing our commitment to trade with China over the past several years,” says Kyle Burns, president and CEO of the Free Trade Alliance. “A representative office of the Free Trade Alliance in Beijing will allow us to realize more opportunities for increased trade and investment.”
Burns adds that San Antonio is an attractive location for Chinese companies looking to expand or invest in North America.
China’s recent development of the $100 billion Chinese Investment Corp. focused on foreign investment makes the opening of the Free Trade Alliance office in Beijing particularly timely, Burns says.
The Free Trade Alliance office in Beijing will be housed in the Lu Yang Court, which is owned and operated by Omega International Group, a San Antonio-based company with offices in San Francisco and Beijing.
The agreement with Omega provides the Free Trade Alliance with an office and administrative support in China to provide information and distribute promotional materials. The office will be managed directly by the alliance, which will develop business opportunities and maintain a presence for San Antonio in China. The facility also will be available to Free Trade Alliance member companies to use for business meetings during their visits to China.
