A Houston company is on the verge of opening the first coal gasification plant in the coal-rich Shandong Province in China.
Synthesis Energy Systems Inc. announced today that the Hai Hua Gasification Facility, a joint venture in which SES holds a 95 percent stake, has completed the commissioning phase and will begin operation soon.
SES President and Chief Executive Officer Tim Vail says the move validates the company’s U-GAS technology, which gasifies normally difficult low-rank and high-ash coals.
Shandong Hai Hua Coal Y Chemical Co. Ltd. owns the remaining 5 percent of the project.
